The Department of Economics of the University of the Peloponnese was founded in 2003. In 2013 it became part of the School of Economics Management and Computer Science, which has been renamed School of Economics and Technology since 2019. The department offers an undergraduate programme in Economics (BSc in Economics) and it is located at Tripoli Campus. 

The main objective of the Department is to promote education and research in the field of economics. The Department of Economics runs undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD programmes of study. All graduates possess the essential knowledge, skills and capabilities, according to the National Qualifications Network (NQN), and are fully qualified to apply economic theory in all aspects of financial decision-making. 

Additional aims of all programmes of study are the following: 

• to inspire and guide  

• to offer the required skills for complex arguments, analysis of practical issues, critical thinking, quantitative techniques, mathematical competence, effective communication, by applying various educational procedures 

• to provide the expertise and competencies that are necessary for the profile of an efficient professional 

• to promote an approach of economic thought, not only in reference to economics but also to social, political and other issues

• to offer a big selection of modules that contributes to the broad knowledge of the field of economics   

• to cover all interests and academic needs of each individual student
