The Department of Economics constitutes one of the most basic academic units of the University of the Peloponnese and it is located in the main campus in Tripoli. The principal objective of the department is to offer high quality education and research, factors that lead to the growth of both the surrounding region and the entire country. 

Programme of Studies

The programme of studies of the Department of Economics is designed to cover a wide range of subjects related to economics. It includes modules of macroeconomic and microeconomic theory, international economics, finance, business economics and statistics. Students are also given the possibility of choosing a specialization in: 

• Economic Policy and Growth
• Finance and Investments
• Business Economics and Markets 

Research

The Department of Economics is very active in research, whereas members of the teaching and research staff participate in international and national research programmes. The main focus of research involves areas that relate to economic theory, applied economic analysis and public policy. Close cooperation with other universities and research centres in Greece and abroad composes the main element of our strategy to promote innovation and knowledge. 

International Cooperations and Exchange Programmes

The Department of Economics takes part in international exchange programmes for students and staff members, like Erasmus+. These programmes enable students to embrace the unique opportunity of studying in foreign institutions, acquire international experience and expand their knowledge. Additionally, the department acts as a host for  international students, a fact that promotes cultural exchange and academic collaborations.

Our graduates have excellent career prospects both in the public and private sector.  The knowledge and skills that they acquire during their studies allow them to follow a successful path in the banking sector, financial services, public administration or businesses in the private sector. Furthermore, a considerable number of our graduates enroll in postgraduate and PhD programmes in Greece or abroad, so as to gain more knowledge and expand their professional prospects.
